Learning environments need to create a sense of calm and focus. Distractions from external sources or a lack of understanding simply because the lesson cannot be heard clearly, are fast becoming a thing of the past due to part E4 of Building Regulation, otherwise known as BB93.

The main purpose of this regulatory requirement is to ensure that;

"Each room or other space in a school building shall have the acoustic conditions and the insulation against disturbance by noise appropriate to its normal use"  source: teachernet.gov.uk

Far from being another pointless round of rules and regulations we view BB93 as an important part of the learning process. After all a well designed classroom, hall, dining room, theatre or meeting space will enhance teaching, performance and social interaction for teacher and student alike.
